We all have learned about Pharaoh, Qarun and Haman with their well-known evilness. What if I tell you they are still living in our society among us and influencing our lives? Observing it closely, each one of them represents a distinct form of evil.
The Pharaoh claimed that he was God (Nauzubillah) and represented selfishness, arrogance, self-obsession, and egocentrism, which unfortunately is getting more and more prevalent in our new generation despite it being in contravention of our Islamic values, which teach us to be compassionate, kind, and to live like ummah.
Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) stated:
“A Muslim is a brother of another Muslim. He does not oppress him, nor does he leave him at the mercy of others.” (Sahih al-Bukhari) “
“The believers in their mutual kindness, compassion, and sympathy are just like one body”.
Qarun, on the other hand, symbolizes wealth, greed, and cupidity. It is found in our society in the form of materialism, capitalism, and consumerism. Our educational institutes, workplaces, and society are all programming us to work until you die and desire to spend more than your means, which is contradictory to contentment and gratitude, which are significant virtues in Islam and an acknowledgement of all Allah’s blessings.
Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) is reported to have said:
“Be content and you will be the most grateful of the people (to God)”.
Haman in last reflected conspiracies, deceit, and fabrication, and this role is playedby the media, which is contributing to chaos, confusion, and muddle. The purpose of all of these is to distract our generations from the true path of our Lord. It is a fire around us in between which we have to live, so we need to strive hard in nurturing Iman in the hearts of our next generation so that they can protect themselves from these fitnahs.
