In a grisly tragedy, Justice Muhammad Noor Meskanzai was gunned down in a suspected target killing on 14th October outside the mosque.
He was born on 1st September 1956, in District Kharan, Balochistan. He started his legal career in 1981 after becoming a lawyer. He also served as chief justice of the Balochistan High Court for 4 years before his retirement. On 15th May 2021, he was appointed as the 17th chief justice of the Federal Shariah Court.
This Court is a unique institution with no parallel in the entire Muslim world. This institute ensures that all existing laws of Pakistan’s constitution shall be brought in conformity with the injunctions of Islam as laid down in the Holy Qur’an and the Sunnah of the Holy Prophet ﷺ
Mohammad Noor Meskanzai during his tenure as chief justice, gave the historical verdict in a long-pending case on Riba (interest), declaring the prevailing interest-based banking system as against the Shariah and directing the government to an interest-free system.
Vocalizing the truth comes at a price, sometimes it costs your life. We are deeply saddened by his assassination but the tragedy is that it isn’t something new to the people of Pakistan. Since its independence, we have witnessed decades of assassinations of people from every class, be it ordinary civilians or renowned Muslim clerics, pro-Islamic activists, or Islam-loving politicians. Everyone has suffered at the hands of anti-Islam, anti-Pakistan enemies who aim to cause unrest in the country.
But the irony is that if any liberal, secular or non-muslim minority is killed in a rare incidence in Pakistan, the few minority groups through these uncommon incidences, create a lot of propaganda against Islam and try to portray a negative image of Pakistan.
We condemn every single killing, we stand for every innocent life taken. But it is a blatant reality that true patriots of Pakistan are on the front line in sacrificing their lives for 75 years.
May Allah forgive the sins of the deceased, elevate his ranks in Jannah and accept his efforts for the implementation of Islamic laws in Pakistan. Aameen.
