A Hadith from Bukhari says,
“When Allah loves someone, He asks Jibraeel (A.S) to love him too. Then Jibraeel (A.S) asks all the angels in the sky to love that man. Then Allah bestows affection of that person in the hearts of all His creation”.
A great Muhaddith, pious, Sufi scholar of Great Britain Sheikh -ul- Hadith Hazrat Maulana Adam ( blessing upon him) Whose funeral was a proof of his greatness and respect in the hearts of people. In Leicester, England, a crowd of over 20,000 people was there to attend his funeral. They were there to see him off for the eternal destination, with a heavy heart. As they have lost a dearest one who saddened the whole city.
Sheikh Al-Hadith Hadrat Maulana Adam Sahib was born in Dhabail (Gujrat, India). His father was a very pious and simple person. His mother died when he was just eleven years old. He memorized the Qur’an and received his primary education in his hometown. At the age of 23, he recieved the degree of islamic doctrate from Dar-ul-uloom Deoband. At First, he started teaching in his hometown. Among his teachers were Hazrat Maulana Qari Muhammad Tayyab, Hazrat Sheikh Fakhruddin Moradabadi, Hazrat Sheikh Ulhind Maulana Mahmoodul Hasan, Sheikh Allama Ibrahim Ballawi (blessing be upon them ).
In Sufism, he was a student of Sheikh Maulana Vaseeullah Al-Ababadi and Maulana INamul Hasan Kandhalvi ( blessing be upon them).
After 5 years of teaching in Jamiat-e-Islamiyya, he went to Malawi, which is near South Africa, as an imam at the invitation of the Muslims and served for 7 years. And then, he came to England at the invitation of the Muslims of England. In 1976 founded Jamia Masjid Leicester and began an endless series of teaching, reforming and serving the Ummah. JamiaUloom- ul-Qur’an was founded next to this mosque with only 11 students, where today 1500 students are enriched with the wealth of the Qur’an. In 1981, the first Muslim girls high school and monastery of Imam Muhammad Zakaria was founded in the UK. Many religious institutions were flourishing under his patronage.
Mufti Taqi Usmani (RA) gave these historic words on his death that
“the passing away of elders from this world is a cause of concern for every Muslim and the death of Sheikh Adam is a tragedy for the entire Ummah”.
A man with no social media platforms whether its a YouTube, Facebook, Twitter or Instagram. Yet his fan following surprised the entire UK, i.e; what a huge funeral he had!
A True servant of Allah whose love for Allah made him being loved by not only Allah Himself but all His creation too. According to the Islamic calendar, he was born on 26 Sha’ban and also died on 26 Sha’ban. May Allah raise his ranks and grant him a high place in Jannat al-Firdous, Ameen.
