Elizabeth II was the Queen of the United Kingdom from 6th February 1952 till her death on 8th September 2022. Her reign of 70 years and 214 days was the longest reign of any British monarch. Her death is the loss of a wonderful monarch. The Queen was a person who respected all faiths.

The national mourning period continued for 10 days and the Muslims also paid tribute to the Queen. On Sunday 11th September, between 2 to 6 p.m the Mu’adh ibn Jabal Masjid in the Goodwood area in Leicester opened a book of remembrance for people of all faiths and beliefs to record their condolences on the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. The Masjid also changed the color of some of its lighting to purple as a mark of respect for the Queen as this colour was associated with her throughout her life.

Muslims across the UK expressed their deep sorrow and paid tribute to the Queen. During Friday prayers at Bradford Central Mosque, Molana Wajid Hussain broke from his traditional sermon to pay a tribute. Organizations like the Muslim Council of Britain (MCB) and Muslim Women’s Network UK (MWNUK) praised the late Queen for her outstanding and distinguished life of public service spanning 70 years of reign.
