Allah the Almighty has protected all of His Prophets from sins, infidelity, and from all kinds of blasphemy throughout their entire lives.

All the messengers of Allah before and after prophethood were the chastest and purest among the men in their communities. The Holy Quran, ahadith, and rational arguments of the four great Faqihs (jurists) establish the innocence and sinlessness of all the Prophets.

The Prophets were sent as the guides of mankind by Allah. They were protected because if a guide would go against Allah’s commandments and commit a sin, be it a minor one, people would no longer be ready to follow and believe him. They needed to have a spectacular reputation to be able to spiritually guide people toward Allah’s path.

In the Holy Quran, Allah repeatedly mentions truthfulness as one of the chief characteristics of his Prophets. The Quran says regarding Prophet Ibrahim (A.S):

“He was a man of truth”.

(Surah Maryam 19:41)

Then Allah has a whole surah in the Quran that explains in detail the life of Prophet Yusuf (A.S). From the time Yusuf (A.S) was a child the malice in the hearts of his brothers kept growing but Yusuf (A.S) only treated them with love and kindness. He grew up to be the most handsome man of his time but always kept his gaze low, even when the wife of Al-Aziz approached him, he said, “I seek refuge in Allah. Indeed, he is my master, who has made good my residency. Indeed, wrongdoers will not succeed”.

Our beloved Prophet Muhammad (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) was born and raised in an age of utter darkness and ignorance. A time when morals and spiritual codes of conduct had been long forgotten. Superstitious beliefs, injustice, and wrong practices prevailed. Even in such times, everyone was impressed by Muhammad’s (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) honesty and truthfulness. He (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) was a poor orphan who used to accompany his uncle on trade journeys but in a very short period, he became well known and respected for his honesty and fair dealings. The people named him Sadiq (truthful) and Amin (faithful).

It is quoted in Ibn Majah that the Prophet (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) said:

“The merchants will be raised on The Day of Resurrection as immoral people apart from those who fear Allah and act righteously and speak the truth”.

(12:2229)

During the rebuilding of Kaaba, a dispute arose among the leaders of the tribes as to who would put the Black Stone (Hajrul Aswad) in its place. So, it was decided that the first to enter Kaaba the next morning would keep it in its place. When Rasullullah (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) entered early in the morning the people were very pleased that ‘Al-Sadiq’ ‘Al-Amin’ has come and would resolve the issue with his honesty and intelligence, undoubtedly.

Rasullullah (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) had lived his whole life in purity and virtue and this was well acknowledged even by his foes. Even when they persecuted him(sallallahu alaihi wasallam) and rejected his message, they still trusted him (sallallahu alaihi wasallam)with their most precious possessions.

Aisha (RA) said,

“He (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) instructed ‘Ali (RA) to stay behind in Mecca, in order to return all the trusts the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alaihi wasallam had for people. There was nobody in Mecca (even his enemies) who had valuables that he feared for except that he kept them with the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alaihi wasallam), due to the honesty and trustworthiness that was known [to all] about him. Ali (RA) stayed back for three days and three nights to deliver everything entrusted by the people to the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alaihi wasallam), and then caught up with him (sallallahu alaihi wasallam after completing that task.

(Collected by al-Bayhaqi in as-Sunan al-Kubra (12477), Ibn Kathir in al-Bidaya wan-Nihaya (3/218-219), and at-Tabari in Tarikh al-Umam wal-Mulook (2/372)

Allah combined in his last Prophet (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) the most illustrious qualities. He (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) sparkled from every angle and was admired not only by the people of his time but also thousands of years later even until the present, many people of other faiths respect him (sallallahu alaihi wasallam)and consider him (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) a man of extraordinary sincerity, innocence, honesty, and conviction.
